Kayla's Blood Work Update

Yesterday I took Kayla to get her blood work done. She was very brave and only cried a little. Kayla's doctor just called and everything is fine! I guess she's just a skinny bean!!

Kayla's 15 Month Check Up

Today Kayla went for her 15 month well baby check up. She is still underweight at 18 lbs 9.5 oz (less than the 5th percentile) but is 30.5 in long (50th percentile). Her doctor said she wants to have her blood work done to rule any medical reason why she is underweight. She doesn't think anything is wrong but wants to be sure. I explained Kayla is eating but doesn't eat much and doesn't eat meat and is very picky. She suggested giving her Carnation Instant Breakfast to give her some extra calories. Also healthy milkshakes and extra cheese. My mission for the next four weeks is to put some weight on Kayla before going back in a month for a weight check. Kayla also got two vaccines and was a very brave little girl. She cried when the nurse stuck her with first needle but then stopped when I picked her up.

Ella's 3 Year Check Up

Yesterday Ella went to the doctor's for her three year check up and she is doing great!  She weighs 29.8 lbs (50th percentile) and is 37.5 in tall (70th percentile).  No shots this time, so it was a very quick and easy appointment.

Twelve Month Appointment

On Wednesday Kayla went for her 12 month well baby check up.  She's still underweight at 17 lbs 9 oz (5th percentile), but her height, 29 1/8 in (50th percentile) is back up.  The doctor doesn't feel any blood work needs to be done at this time, but she does want to keep an eye on it.  Kayla is hitting all her milestones and hopefully her stranger anxiety will pass, sooner than later!  She was sitting on my lap and didn't even want the doctor examining her.  Kayla also needed three vaccines.  She cried when the nurse gave her the shots, but after I picked her up she stopped crying.  The nurse then came over to say goodbye and she started screaming again.  I think she was more traumatized by the nurse touching her than the actual shots.  She does need to go back at 15 months.  I don't remember Ella having a 15 month check up, but maybe they want to be very careful with her weight.  I will post everyone posted...

Kayla's Doctor's Appointment

Yesterday Kayla had her weight check appointment. Unfortunately, she only gained 3 oz, so she needs to go back in 2 weeks. She still has a cold and I think she's getting four teeth on the top, so I don't think anything serious is wrong. I guess we'll see what happens in the next few weeks.

Nine Month Appointment

Today Kayla went for her nine month well baby check up. She is hitting all her milestones and doing great developmentally, but of course her weight is now a problem. She only gained about a pound and half in the past three months. The doctor thinks she's not drinking enough formula, so I need to bring her back in a month for a weight check. Ella had the same problem around four months, so I'm not worried. I'm going to try and feed her as much as I can, but even at this early age she is very stubborn and only eats when and as much as she wants. She weighs 16 lbs 14 oz (18th percentile) and is 27.5 in (50th percentile). I'm hoping feeding her more will help her sleep through the night (fingers crossed!) Kayla did get one shot today and only cried for a few seconds. Next month I'll posted her updated weight...

Six Month Appointment

On Monday Kayla had her six month well baby check up. Like I said she's huge...15 lbs 3 oz (45th percentile) and 27 in long (90th percentile). I asked the doctor about her not eating and she said it was fine and not to worry. At this stage, babies main source of nutrition comes from milk. Right now giving a baby food is only to get them to learn to eat. She said it wasn't a problem until 10 or 12 months and that I should try and offer foods when I can and hopefully she'll start eating again in the next couple of months. Other than that she is very happy with Kayla progress and doing everything she should be doing. She did need two shots, but my brave, little girl only cried for a couple of seconds.

Four Month Appointment

Today Kayla went for her four month well baby check up. The doctor said she's doing great and hitting all her milestones. She weighs 13 lbs 10 oz (50th percentile) and is 25" long (75th percentile). I told the doctor Kayla started rice cereal a week ago and she said I can start giving her baby food. I'll probably start making her food this weekend...Stay tuned for those pictures.

Two Month Appointment

Yesterday Kayla went for her two month well baby check up. She is 10 lbs 14 oz (80th percentile) and 23.5 (50th percentile) inches long. Her doctor said she is doing great and doesn't need to come back till she's four months old. Not sure why, but Kayla was extremely fussy at the appointment. When I finally calmed her down it was time for shots! She needed five vaccines. Four combined into two shots and an oral dose. She screamed for about a minute or two and then fell asleep in the car on the way home.

Ella's 2 Year Check Up

Today we all went back to the doctor's for Ella's 2 year check up. She weighs 25 lbs 12 oz (40 percentile) and is 34.5 in tall (70 percentile). She also received her last vaccine shot till she's four and our big girl didn't even cry. She was more concerned with her lollipop to even notice she was getting a shot. Everything else went well and unless Ella is sick we don't need to go back till she's three years old for an annual check up from now on.

Poor Thing...Kayla Has Pink Eye!

On Tuesday I noticed Kayla had green sleepys in the corners of her eyes, but didn't think much of it. The next morning it was a little worse so I figured I would asked the doctor if she had pink eye at Ella's doctors appointment on Friday. But Thursday morning her eyes were completely bloodshot and really goopey when she woke up I needed to take her to the doctors that day. The doctor confirmed that it was pink eye and prescribed drops for the next 7-10 days. Here's a few pictures of our sick girl! :(

Doctor's Appointment - 39 Weeks

Today I had my 39th week appointment. My doctor said I am 2-3 cm dilated, but her head is still far back. If I don't have the baby before Wednesday I am going to be induced that day. I need to call Monday morning to make sure there's an available opening and I will know for sure then. Other than that everything is good and now we're just waiting...

It's a GIRL!

Today I went for my big sonogram and found out were having a healthy, baby girl!! I don't have a scanner to post the pictures from the ultrasound, but everything looked great! After the sonogram I had my 20 week appointment. Unfortunately I gained 7 lbs since my last appointment a month ago, but other than that I'm doing great. I'm actually 20 weeks tomorrow, so I'll post my weekly picture then.

Doctor's Appointment

Today was Ella's 2 month check up. She weighed 9 lbs 14 oz, 25th percentile, and is 22.5 inches, 50th percentile. The doctor noted she measured the same as last month, but the thinks Ella was incorrectly measured at that appointment. Her weight and height are right on track and was told she should have a big growth spurt at her 4 month check up. Ella also received 5 vaccines today. One oral and 4 shots! She was a very brave little girl and only cried for about 20 seconds after the nurse was done.

Her next appointment is on November 9th and she will need another 4 vaccines and hopefully she will grow and put on some weight.

Doctor's Appointment

Today Ella had her one month doctor's appointment. She weighs 8 lbs. 13 oz. and is 22.5 inches long. She's in the 90th percentile for height and 25th percentile for weight. Since birth she gained 2 lbs. and grew just over 3 inches...She's tall and skinny! Her doctor also gave us some tips to get her sleeping better. The doctor thinks she may have acid reflux, so we were told to prop up her mattress or have her sleep in her car seat. She also suggested feeding her more frequently. If these don't work we're supposed to follow up again in a week or two. We'll see what happens...Wish us luck and stay tuned!

Doctor's Appointment

This morning I had my weekly appointment. I'm still only 1 cm dilated, but the doctor says she's in position and ready to go. To say the least, I was extremely disappointed to still only be at 1 cm. I told her the last few weeks were getting hard and she asked if I wanted to discuss an induction at some point. This perked me up and she explained that induction would be favorable for me because I'm ready, I just might need a little push. SO...I'm am scheduled to be induced on JULY 9th! She thinks I'll have the baby before then, but I am happy I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. 10 days and counting!
